Cricket Australia announces BBL 2019-20 Team of the Tournament; Glenn Maxwell to lead

The 2019-20 edition of Big Bash League is nearing its conclusion after serving its audience with enthralling encounters over two months. Melbourne Stars, led by Glenn Maxwell have emerged as one of the top performers this season. Stars, who have a sublime record this season– registering ten victories from 14 matches– are slated to lock horns with Sydney Thunder in the Challenger of BBL 2019-20 on February 6th.
Meanwhile, Big Bash League has released the ongoing season’s Team of the Tournament, as voted the BBL coaches. One prominent name in the list– which is not surprising for most BBL fans– is of Melbourne Stars‘ skipper Glenn Maxwell.
After taking a short break from the sport due to some difficulties with regards to his mental health, the Australian all-round marked his return in a majestic way by amassing 389 runs in 14 matches this season. Maxwell has boasted an excellent average of 43.22 in BBL 2019-20 along with a blistering strike rate of 150.78.
Marcus Stoinis and Haris Rauf have also been included
Along with Maxwell, two other stalwarts of Melbourne Stars– Marcus Stoinis and Haris Rauf have also been included in the Team of the Tournament. Stoinis, who has also been in sublime form this season, has assisted Stars with many explosive stars. The right-hander has smashed 612 runs this season and is leading the top-scorer list in BBL 2019-20. Pakistan’s Haris Rauf has also emerged as the bowling talisman for Stars and is currently the leading wicket-taker in BBL 2019-20.
Other prolific players like Tom Curran, Rashid Khan and Mitchell Marsh have also been included in the side for their impressive all-round performances this season. The bowling force of Team of the Tournament comprises the speedster trio of Peter Siddle, Haris Rauf and Daniel Sams.
One surprising exclusion from the team was of Alex Hales, who is currently the second-most run-getter of BBL 2019-20. The right-handed batsman has amassed 568 runs this season while donning the Sydney Thunder jersey. Two wicketkeepers– Josh Inglis and Matthew Wade have also been incorporated into the squad as both have delivered impressive performances with the bat as well as gloves.
