Indian Premier League is one of the biggest cricket leagues across the world. With its auction to take place on 19th December, the preparations for the upcoming event have already started. It looks like the BCCI is keen to hand over a big responsibility to Cricket Club of India.
Last season, the CoA started IPL with a low budget entertainer in order to save money for the families of CRPF personnel killed in the Pulwama attack. But this time CCI can be handed over an opportunity to organize an opening ceremony for IPL 2020.
The upcoming season of the league can go longer than expected as the apex council is planning to take out a blueprint to have more night games. It is expected that teams will get to play only one day game in the entire season and fewer double-headers on weekends.
BCCI plan’s to lengthen the duration of IPL 2020
The BCCI is looking to use two months IPL window to the fullest and the franchises might be informed soon about the same. “There is a plan in place of playing more games at night. If it is passed, each team will have to play only one game in the afternoon. Teams who play in the north face heatwaves and conditions get more difficult. There is a plan of using all 60 days instead of wrapping up the IPL in 45 days. The IPL GC has to approve it,” a source said as quoted by Indian Express.
The IPL will kick off from April 1 and could end by May 30. However, the important thing will be to watch whether BCCI will keep a 15-day window between the end of IPL and India’s next assignment. After taking over the regime, this is the first time that the apex body will hold the operations related to IPL.
The upcoming season’s opening ceremony can take place in Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. It is expected to be a full-throttle entertainer which will be different from the previous seasons.
