Cricket fraternity praises efforts of PV Sindhu in WBC finals
She lost to Nozomi Okuhara 19-21, 22-20, 20-22.
Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu is slowly making a name for herself in Indian sports arena. Ever since she finished as the Silver medalist in the 2016 Rio Olympics, she has started to escalate her game to a whole new level every time she steps on to the court. Her herculean efforts in the recent times saw her set up the title clash in the World Badminton Championships.
She was up against Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in the finals of the tournament. All eyes were glued to the television sets as PV Sindhu was set to embark on a remarkable game. Had she won the match, she would have become the first Indian woman to win a badminton world championship. Alas! it was not her day on the court. She lost to Nozomi Okuhara 19-21, 22-20, 20-22.
However, the match that the fans witnessed was beyond the limits of ordinary. It was a neck to neck encounter with both shuttlers giving their all in the match. The way they nosed ahead of each other throughout the course of the game made it a nail biting finale. In the first set, it was Sindhu who raced to a lead of 11-5.
However, a few errors and lapse in energy levels saw her lose the set by 21-19. She bounced back in the second set, after being down 5-11, to win by 22-20. It all boiled down to the final set of the finale. Both players were up with their energy levels and the moments intensified as it reached the climax.
Unfortunately for Sandhu, she lost the final set narrowly by 20-22. With that, she had to settle with the silver medal yet again. She lost the game, but she surely did win the hearts one more time. The good wishes came in flooding for her. The cricket fraternity were not far behind in wishing her either.
Here is how the cricket fraternity hailed PV Sindhu for her efforts:
