Team India continued their dominance against the hosts Sri Lanka in the final Test of the ongoing 3-match Test series. The hosts seem to be crashing towards similar fate in this Test as well. As has been the story for the Indian team, they have found a new hero with every passing innings this series. It was Hardik Pandya who rose to the occasion this time around.

The Baroda all-rounder slammed his maiden Test ton and entertained the fans big time. Coming in at number 8, Hardik Pandya knew that at some stage or the other, he will end up losing out on partners from the other end. But that certainly did not bother him. He took the matter to his own hands and started to take on the opposition bowling right from the word go.

Pandya, who had earlier hit his maiden Test fifty in the very first game that he played in the series, proved to be a valuable contributor to the team yet again. His efforts with the bat helped India reach a total in the proximity of 500 and thereby end in a commanding position.

In a format where the players look to nurdle around for singles and doubles, Hardik Pandya was dealing in boundaries. He smashed 8 fours and 7 sixes during his stay at the crease. He reached his ton with a four and ended up scoring 108 off just 96 deliveries.

His efforts saw India post a mammoth 487 in their first innings. Talking about the course of the game that followed, the Sri Lankan team ended up bundling out for a paltry 135 in their first innings. It was Kuldeep Yadav who was the pick of the bowlers for the Indian side with a four-fer to his name. Hardik proved to be impressive with the ball too, as he took the key wicket of Angelo Mathews.

Here is how the cricket fraternity reacted to the maiden Test ton of Hardik Pandya:
