Former Australia batter David Warner has played just one game for Dubai Capitals in the DP World ILT20 2025 and scored an unbeaten 93 off 57 balls. This match-winning innings came against Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in match No. 29 of the league. He will have a key role to play in the final against Desert Vipers on Sunday, February 09.

Ahead of the all-important clash, Warner spoke to CricTracker where he explained how the Capitals managed to turn things around after losing three out of their first four matches in the campaign. The former Australian opener said that playing with freedom, executing plans, and having the right attitude have played important roles in helping the Dubai-based franchise come back strongly. They have won six out of their last seven games, including the Qualifier 1 clash against Desert Vipers.

"The conversation was about playing with freedom and making sure that we're relaxed and going out and trying to do what we plan to do, and I think the execution is the big one. So the guys have been executing with the bat and the ball. Each individual (has been) stepping up," Warner said in his interaction.

"But the other question around everything else was our fielding. So I think, you know, if we took some of the catches in early games and everything, it would have been a bit of a different story. But the way that we have pulled back, the way that the guys have fought well, the right attitude, the energy, especially at training, from what I heard before we got here, has been unbelievable. So it's been a very, very good turnaround. I'm really proud of the guys and the guys are absolutely pumped, and they're so excited to get out there tomorrow," he added.

We know we can beat them: Warner

The Vipers finished at the top of the points table at the end of the round-robin phase of the DP World ILT20 2025. However, they ended up on the losing side in all three of their meetings against Dubai Capitals. Warner is confident that the Capitals can keep a clean slate against the Sam Curran-led side and lift the coveted title.

"Well, we know we can beat them. So that's the thing. We beat them twice here. And they're without two main players, but it doesn't matter about that. It matters what happens on the field come tomorrow. So for us it's stick to the basics. Right attitude, start well, and hopefully that holds us in good stead for tomorrow night to lift that trophy," the Southpaw stated.
