Keeping their playoff hopes alive after the win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Delhi Capitals (DC) will now have to face their toughest challenge when they meet the Chennai Super Kings at their fortress known as Chepauk in IPL 2023.
After being written off by many experts, Delhi Capitals proved that any team can reach the top four position when their top order dominated RCB by chasing a total of 181, one which Virat Kohli thought to be above par when asked after the end of the first innings.
DCβs top four overseas players scoring runs will give them a huge confidence when they go up against CSK since they know that Chennai bats deep and also have a good spin attack which is essential at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
CSK will be ready to welcome Delhi after their comprehensive win over the Mumbai Indians on Saturday where they restricted MI to just 139 runs and chased it down with 2.2 overs remaining in their hand. A win over the Capitals will keep them intact in the number two position in the points table with 15 points while still having two more games under their belt (a home game vs Kolkata and an away game vs Delhi).
The Delhi Capitals are in a must-win situation and a win over the Super Kings would make them enter double figures while a loss will mean they are out of contention for a spot in the playoffs.
DC will expect Warner, Salt, Rossouw, and Mitchell Marsh to continue their good run while also wanting Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav to shine on a pitch that would once again be ideal for spinners.
