The hero of the match speaks
'First ball the length was a bit short and then I sensed need to bowl full to get some swing and that was the plan (for first wicket). The lockdown was really important for me, because I used to get hit for boundaries very often before that. I worked on my plans, my fitness and my bowling and it's all paying dividends now. I always try to improve in every department of the game because I understand it is important to contribute in whichever way possible. Always rated myself as a decent fielder, misfields can happen but I take my fielding seriously,' said Mohammed Siraj.
Siraj is the Player of the Match
Mohammed Siraj has been adjudged Player of the Match for bagging four wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs.
Let us look at what Virat Kohli had to say
"The table can't define your team. It's towards game 13 or 14 we can try and focus on what we need to do. Faf batted really well on that pitch. His innings ensured we had that 20-30 extra at the end. The pitch was very rough underneath, there was not enough water there I guess. There was hardly any sixes hit off the back foot against the spinners. The strategy was to bat deep to have a crack at 190. Told them (the bowlers) that the target was more than enough. Cannot afford to take the game deep, especially when they lost 6-7 wickets. The batting line ups are deeper, but we also have options in our bowling. At the halfway stage, tha talk was to take the game to the opposition and you kind of break the game open when you pick up 4 wickets in the powerplay," Kohli said.
Who should win Player of the Match award?
Losing skipper Sam Curran has his say !
"(On the score) I thought we bowled really well as a group. The way Faf and Virat played was good. I did not think they got away from us too much. In the end, we just did not bat well enough. They bowled pretty well as well but we lost wickets. The conditions were quite strange as well. we thought it would rain at one stage, with all the lightning and thunder. (On the pitch) It was a really good wicket with good-sized boundaries, you want a fair contest between bat and ball. Just a couple of things with the bat that we might regret but we move on to Saturday. The games come thick and fast, so it is about learning from this," Curran said.
Mohammed Siraj - 'Naam Toh Suna Hoga'
RCB have prevailed !
Harshal sends Jitesh back into the hut and Punjab have been bowled out for 150 runs in 18.2 overs.
26 runs needed off 12 balls
The game is swinging like a pendulum. You would reckon RCB has the upper hand with nine down.
Knocked him over !!
Siraj has rattled Ellis with his pace and knocked his stumps over. RCB is just a wicket away from victory.
Cometh the hour, Cometh the man , Siraj - You freak !
Siraj has done it again. He has bowled Harpreet Brar and provided RCB a much-needed wicket.
30 needed off 3 overs
The match is going right down the wire. Fasten your seat belts, we might be in for a ride.
Dropped !!! How costly will it turn out be?
Virat Kohli has dropped Jitesh Sharma. It was a sitter form Kohli's standards but the stand-in skipper has failed to cling on it
13 runs off the 16th over !
Courtesy of Jitesh's onslaught, 37 runs are required off 24 balls ; Quite gettable Punjab would believe.
Jitesh on fire !!
Jitesh is hammering RCB bowlers all across the park and keeping PBKS in the hunt.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) will square off against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Match No. 27 of IPL 2023 on Thursday, April 20 at the Punjab Cricket Association's IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Punjab are coming into the contest, having trumped Lucknow Super Giants by two wickets. Courtesy of the win, PBKS currently stand fifth in the points table with three wins in five matches. They would certainly look to ride on the winning momentum and trump the Bangalore side.
RCB, on the other hand, succumbed to an eight-run loss in their previous game against Chennai Super Kings. They are eighth in the standings and would be eager to return to the winning ways. Faf du Plessis & Co. are studded with match-winners and they would look to bring their A-game into play in the forthcoming clash.
