Losing skipper Pat Cummins said:
"(On would he have batted first in hindsight) Not really. We thought it was our best chance to win. They batted well to get to 210 but with thought we were in with a chance with our batting lineup, the pitch was playing well too. We’re pretty happy with how the batting lineup is going. Everyone in that lineup has performed and won us a game at some point in the tournament. It’s definitely dewy now but it was the same in the first innings as well. We’ll bounce back quickly," Cummins said.

The action continues at MA Chidambaram Stadium for home team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as they face their southern rivals Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 46 of IPL 2024 on Sunday, April 28.
CSK are coming into this game on the back of a rare defeat at their fortress Chepauk against Lucknow Super Giants when they were blown away by Marcus Stoinis' whirlwind 124 (63) in the second innings, making light work of the 211-run target. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was the star of the show for the home team, scoring 108*(60) with Shivam Dube playing a great supporting hand of 66 (27).
Most of the CSK bowlers went for more than 10 runs per over, including Mustafizur Rahman who is the team's leading wicket-taker with 12 scalps from seven matches. Deepak Chahar's bowling form is a concern for CSK while rest of the other bowlers have performed decently.
When it comes to batting, Daryl Mitchell has not been able to play the way he has been known for of late. Also, Ravindra Jadeja has been slow off the blocks this season which is hampering the push that the team needs at the fag end of the innings.
CSK would need to put their best forward in this match considering their opponent's style of play and their position on the points table. They are fifth with four wins and equal number of losses so far. The team has lost three of their last five matches and seems to have lost the momentum that it had gained at the start of the season.
On the other hand, SRH suffered a shock defeat against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at home earlier this week. The opponents made a strategic move after winning the toss and choosing to bat first. SRH have been enjoying batting first and setting the tone for the rest of the match with their aggressive starts courtesy of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. However, the duo failed to get going in the previous match and that affected the team's chances to a large extent.
The middle order also had a rare failure, leaving the team 85/6 after 9.1 overs chasing 207. The lower order comprising Shahbaz Ahmed (40*) and Pat Cummins (31) gave the side another chance to chase down the target but they fell short by 35 runs.
On the bowling front, Pat Cummins who has been a consistent performer had figures of 1/55 in four overs against RCB. Jaydev Unadkat was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/30 from his four overs. Moreover, T Natarajan scalped two wickets but was a bit on the higher side on the economy front.
SRH would be itching to get back to winning and continuing to find success through their manner of play. They are third on the points table with five wins from eight matches and are one of the favourites to qualify for the playoffs.
