FINAL GOODBYE!
The World Cup 2023 was a special journey. India were phenomenal for 10 games but just one game defined their campaign. Australia won their sixth world title fair and square as it will take years for the Indian fans to forget the night of November 19. Meanwhile, that's all we have got tonight and for the tournament. Thank you for joining us throughout the course. Keep the belief alive... Someday!
Congratulation Champions!
In the end only the one who can handle the pressure can handle the trophy. Well deserved victory #INDvAUS Congrats @CricketAus pic.twitter.com/DAnXUcnXSu

Here's what Travis Head said after the match:
"Never expected this, not in a million years, truly an exceptional day. Lot better than sitting on the couch at home. Really glad to contribute, the first twenty balls I played gave me a lot of confidence and yea I was able to carry through. The way Mitch Marsh came out and took the game on, he set the tone. That was the energy we wanted and we knew the wicket may get tough. It was a great decision to bowl first after winning the toss. I felt the wicket got better as the day went on. It took a little bit of spin, it paid dividends. Nice to be a part of it, nice to play a role in all of that. He’s (Rohit Sharma) probably the unluckiest man in the world. Again, it's (fielding) something that I worked hard on. I couldn't imagine getting a hundred, couldn't probably imagine holding onto that one. Was great to hold on to that catch. Important to look after your team-mates, to be able to do that on the big stage in front of a full house is a nice thing. (On joining the list of centurions in WC finals - Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist and Head) Definitely third on that list, it's a nice one to join, nice to be here and nice to contribute. I'll just tell the boys that I'm looking forward to the reunion," Head said.
Here's what Pat Cummins said after the match:
"I think we saved our best for last. We have been batting first pretty much for whole tournament and we thought it is a good night to chase down the target. Didn't really spin as much as we thought either. The boys were fantastic, we got an aging side and still everyone is throwing themselves on the field. We thought 300 might have been tough but achievable on that wicket, really chuffed with 240. Magnificent. Marnus with a cool head and Travis does what he does on the biggest stage, showed a lot of character. The selectors have backed him in and it is a big risk that we took and it paid off. I was pretty happy throughout the bowling innings. You look around and it is a special moment no matter whatever happened tonight. You gotta go and win the World Cup, you can't wait for it to happen. This year will be remembered for a long, long time and we had a lot of success over the winter and this one peaks it all. At the top of the mountain," Cummins said.
Here's what Rohit Sharma said after the match:
"The result has not gone our way. We were not good enough today. We tried everything but it wasn't supposed to be. 20-30 runs more would have been good, KL and Kohli were stitching a good partnership and we were looking at 270-280 but we kept losing wickets. When you have 240 on the board, you want to take wickets but credit to Head and Labuschagne who stitched together a big partnership and put us completely out of the game. We tried everything we could but I feel wicket got slightly better to bat under lights. Don't want to give that as an excuse. We knew under lights it would be slightly better to bat, but don't want to give that as an excuse. We didn't put enough runs on the board. With the seamers upfront, we took those 3 wickets and another wicket there, we could open up the game. Credit to those two guys in the middle for stitching an outstanding partnership," Rohit said.

The crowd in Ahmedabad boo Richard Kettleborough
The crowd started booing Richard Kettleborough as soon as his name was announced to collect his medal during the presentation ceremony. He gave not-out to one of the decisions but Rohit Sharma countered it. However, it later came out as Umpires' Call which frustrated the home fans.

Here's what Mitchell Marsh said after the match:
"(On winning shot) Bit of a slog but it feels amazing, we were all excited when it got back down to 20 runs. I resigned myself to the fact that I wouldn’t have to bat like 2015, but obviously Heady got out and I had to go out there and finish the job. It is a bit different when you see Head take on Bumrah, I got a taste of my own medicine. Head was phenomenal and Marnus was second to none. It was an unbelievable partnership," Marsh said.
Here's what David Warner said after the match:
"Our bowlers were fantastic, they set the tone from ball one. The fielding supported that. To bowl India out for 240 in a final is absolutely exceptional. There was a bit of nervous energy in the change room. We kept changing places. But that was a brilliant partnership between Marnus (Labuschagne) and Trav (Head). What a comeback that was from Head, especially after coming back from injury, that was fantastic," Warner said.
Here's what Marnus Labuschagne said after the match:
"Oh mate! What we've achieved today is unbelievable, the best achievement I have been part of. To come to India. They were 10 from 10 with one to play with. They (India) have been unbelievable. Our bowlers have been sensational and Travis put on a hell of a show. I know I am a man of faith and believe in God. How things have panned out for me, unbelievable. I am lost for words. Very thankful to the coaches for sticking with me. To play 19 games straight from South Africa. big thanks to God for that," Marnus said.
Here's what Mitchell Starc after the match:
"He (Cummins) was phenomenal, he's been phenomenal all tournament in his decision making, his leadership. At times, he had to step up with the ball when it's been a bit flat. Capped off an unbelievable eight weeks for this group. I haven't got any words left. Between Pat, Ron (Andrew McDonald) and all our coaching staff, all our players across formats, it's been an incredible winter. I don't think you could write a script to top the win that we've had. To win a World Cup in India, it's been a fantastic eight weeks . Bloody successful and bloody enjoyable," Starc said.
Here's what Steven Smith said after the match:
"Incredible feeling! Atmosphere was amazing today. Great performance from the team. The bowlers set the tone, fielding was great. Travis Head - the show he put on was incredible. Took the game on and Marnus played another unbelievable knock and played a great supporting role. Wasn't the ideal start for us (with bat) but we had the belief and we have got a good group of players. We had a poor start and then had to get into the top four - Australia typically plays well in those moments. It has been a pretty big year for us winning the Test championship and this. Yeah, it was pretty good fun," Smith said.

Here's what Mitchell Starc said after the first innings:
"You can always plan for things, the way we contributed with the ball is fantastic first up and now out there (need to do the job) with the bat. There is not a whole heap of help for the seam bowlers and swing bowlers, was trying to do a few different things, vary the pace a little bit. Patty (Cummins) and Josh (Hazlewood) were outstanding and obviously a little bit of reverse at the back end. Hopefully we restricted them to enough (runs). We bowled second here against England and it was a little dewy, the wicket (today) is a little bit dry and hopefully the dew comes in and we don't see any reverse in the second innings, not an easy wicket to bat on, the easiest time to bat perhaps is against the hard new ball and there are runs to be scored and it is not going to be easy, but it is what you ask for, it is a world cup final. What more can you ask for!" Starc said.

India Playing XI:
Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj
Australia Playing XI:
Travis Head, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Josh Inglis (wk), Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins (c), Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood
Here's what Rohit Sharma said after the toss:
"I would have batted first. Looks a good pitch, big game, put runs on the board. It's going to be amazing, everytime we play here, the crowd come out in large numbers. The biggest occasion in the cricketing event. We have to stay nice and calm. It's a dream come true to be captaining the team in the final. I know what lies in front of us. We need to play well and get the result. You got to make the right decisions on the field. That's something we've done consistently in the last 10 games. We are playing the same team," Rohit said.
Here's what Pat Cummins said after the toss:
"We are gonna have a bowl first. Looks like a dry wicket. Dew is a factor. It gets better to bat on. Tough start to the tournament, haven't really put a foot wrong ever since. It's all set up perfectly. We've played these guys a lot. Same team as the semi-final," Cummis said.
No changes for India
India skipper Rohit Sharma confirmed that they will not be making any changes to the winning squad.
No changes for Australia!
Australia skipper Pat Cummins confirmed that they are playing same XI.
TOSS TIME!
Australia have won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Mohammed Siraj to play..
Looks like it was a last-minute decision for Mohammed Siraj to continue in the playing XI. That confirms that Ravichandran Ashwin will miss the game.
Dinesh Karthik analyses the pitch!
Not a high scoring game

Team batting second if dew around is better suited for a win
Though interestingly both teams might bat first I feel
Big game . Put runs on board #CricketWorldCup pic.twitter.com/1uDVusZYPa
PITCH REPORT:
"Pitch number five. Same wicket that was used for India vs Pakistan. It's different from that one because it's been left open for quite a long time. It looks very dry, not much rolling. Looks patchy especially in the areas where spinners will land the ball. I expect it to turn a bit. Dew is uncontrollable. If there's no dew, you could be in trouble. Batting first, getting runs on the board is premium. But India won't be too bothered either way," reckons Ravi Shastri and Matthew Hayden.
India vs Australia Head to Head!

Will Ravichandran Ashwin play vs Australia?
Ravichandran Ashwin is warming up and might end up featuring in the playing XI. The veteran off-spinner played only one match in the ODI World Cup 2023, and that was against Australia in their opening game. Hence, the Men in Blue can once again rely on the shoulders of Ashwin on the night of the finals.

India vs Australia.. Two decades later.. HERE WE GO!
19th November 2023, one of the biggest days in the history of Indian cricket is finally upon us! 20 years down the line, India suffered a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of Australia in the 2003 ODI World Cup, can Rohit Sharma-led side avenge that or the Aussies will once again humble the Men in Blue? The clock is ticking, the fans are buzzing and India is waiting!
The stage is set for an electrifying clash at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium as India (IND) prepare to face off against Australia (AUS) in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Finals on November 19. Anticipation surges as the undefeated hosts brace themselves against an Australian side eager to disrupt their winning streak.
Australia, seasoned champions with a history of lifting the trophy five times, exhibited resilience after stumbling in their initial two matches. Pat Cummins' squad sealed their final berth with a hard-fought victory over South Africa. However, the narrative veers heavily towards India’s dominance in the tournament. Their flawless journey, winning all nine matches in the lead-up to the knockout stages, continued with a commanding semi-final win over New Zealand.
The momentum has been undeniably on India’s side since they eased past Australia in the opening group-stage encounter. Virat Kohli, leading from the front, has been a stalwart, shattering records with 711 runs in the tournament, surpassing even Sachin Tendulkar's all-time World Cup record, set in 2003 with 673 runs, with a game to spare. Mohammed Shami’s prowess with the ball has also been exemplary, with him emerging as the top wicket-taker despite playing fewer matches.
Both teams itching to rewrite history
The impending clash evokes memories of the 2003 World Cup final where Australia emerged victorious, claiming the trophy for a record third time. India, thirsting for their third title, aim to recreate the glory of their 2011 win at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. While India’s dominance has been unquestionable, the real test lies in converting their 10 wins into an illustrious 11 on the grandest stage. The pressure of the occasion looms large, especially if the match tightens.
India’s unyielding form has somewhat shielded them from significant challenges, consistently maintaining a buffer in their chase and limiting opponents to within 100 runs. As the cricketing world braces for this titanic clash, India seeks to quench their thirst for glory on home soil, but Australia stands as the formidable force looking to disrupt the narrative and etch their name as champions once again. The showdown promises a spectacle befitting of a World Cup final, where legends are made and history rewritten.
