Rohit Sharma returns the favour, this time off the field
Over the years, Rohit Sharma's wife, Ritika, usually crosses her fingers when the India skipper is out there in the middle. After India's thumping victory against Pakistan in Ahmedabad, Rohit returned the special gesture.
ALRIGHT, THAT'S THAT!
Time to say goodnight! WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY, WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT? UNBELIEVABLE! With a seven-wicket win, India moved to the top of the table's point. LET'S GO. For now, PARTYYYYY! See ya folks tomorrow.
Winning skipper Rohit Sharma said:
"The bowlers were the ones today as well who set the game up for us. I don't think it was a 190 pitch. At one stage we were looking at 280. The way they showed grit says a lot. That is something we pride ourselves in. Whoever gets the ball does the job. We've got 6 individuals who can do the job with the ball. My job as a captain is important there as well. It's to read the conditions and figure out who's the right guy to do the job. It's only because the guys - before entering the WC - they got a lot of runs. We were very clear what we wanted to do. Didn't want to be in two minds about who's going to bat where. All in all, it's looking good. Want to keep my fingers crossed. Don't want to get too excited. Don't want to get two low as well. Want to stay balanced. Keep calm and keep moving forward. Every opposition we come up against are all quality. You have to play well on that particular day, and that's what we're looking at," Rohit said.
THIS IS BLISS!

The Indian skipper has yet again showcased brilliance with the bat at the biggest stage in ODI cricket. The Hit-man missed his 8th ODI World Cup century by 14 runs. With 217 runs, Rohit Sharma is now third on run-scoring charts in ongoing World Cup.

Losing skipper Babar Azam said:
"We started well. Good partnership between me and Imam. We wanted to play normal cricket (me and Rizwan). Suddenly we had a collapse and didn't finish well. The way we started, wanted to target 280-290. With the new ball we are not upto the mark. The way Rohit is playing - he played an outstanding innings," Babar said.
Looks like Rohit will break another record in this World Cup:

POTM Jasprit Bumrah said:
It felt good. Usually you try to analyse the wicket as soon as possible. We realised the wicket is on the slower side so we wanted to bowl hard lengths. We were trying to make it as difficult as possible. (On how he reads pitches quickly and understands what lengths work) Just being aware I guess. I used to ask a lot of questions when I was young and that helps me now. Now I'm experienced. In my younger days they (seniors) were used to being troubled by me sometimes (with questions), but it helps to read the wicket and try different options. (On the slower ball to get rid of Rizwan) We were bowling in the middle overs and I saw Jaddu's ball was turning, not too much but a little bit. I count my slower ball as a spinner's slower ball, one of those days where it came off. (On the ball that got Shadab) Little phase where there was reverse swing, one of the occasions when the white ball was reverse swinging.
Let the celebrations begin!

India and Pakistan are set to renew their historic rivalry as they collide at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on Saturday, October 14, in the 12th match of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. The 'Men in Blue' began their journey in the showpiece event with a thumping win against Australia, at Chepauk, Chennai, by a six-wicket margin. Ravindra Jadeja did the star turn with the ball, picking up three wickets as the former five-time champions were dismissed for 199.
In reply, India were in a spot of bother at 2/3, but the duo of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul weathered the storm and took India near the finishing line. The former India captain was dismissed for 85, but Rahul remained unbeaten on 97 and alongside Hardik Pandya, helped India get off the mark in the tournament. Their second game was in Delhi against Afghanistan. The 'Blue Tigers' posted 272/8 after opting to bat first, as Jasprit Bumrah picked up a four-wicket haul.
Skipper Rohit Sharma pulverised the Afghan bowling en route to a sparkling century, while Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 55, as the former two-time winners finished the match with 15 overs and eight wickets to spare. Babar Azam's men have also notched up two wins in as many games thus far in the ODI World Cup 2023. They started with a nervy batting performance against the Netherlands, but eventually won by 81 runs after posting 286. Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel scored half-centuries, while Haris Rauf was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/43 in nine overs.
Sri Lanka was the next opponent for the 'Men in Green'. Powered by centuries from Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama, Dasun Shanaka's side posted a mammoth total of 344/9 in 50 overs. In reply, Pakistan lost two wickets inside the first eight overs but young Abdullah Shafique and the in-form Mohammad Rizwan smashed centuries to help Pakistan chase down the highest total in the history of World Cups with 10 balls and six wickets left.
Both teams have form and confidence on their side and will enter the game with the hope of extending their winning run. However, only one will prevail in the clash of the titans of world cricket.
