Aiden Markram is delighted with South Africa's win
Aiden Markram | South Africa captain: A bit bleak about Durban, it was disappointing. Great crowd in today and it's nice to put in a performance in front of them. It was on the slower side. But after the rain came in, it quickened up. Sometimes you try too much in T20 cricket, if a match up works you go with him. But, you don't want to keep him for too long as the batter lines him up. (On Reeza Hendricks) He has been fantastic, super happy for him, he has adopted a bit of leadership role with the batting. Another brilliant knock from him tonight. You gotta pick form players going into the world cup. There might still be a couple of places up for grabs. Every player is working hard and giving his best. The healthy competition means a lot for us.
Tabraiz Shamsi wins Player of the Match
Tabraiz Shamsi (1/18, 4 overs) | Player of the Match: (On his shoe-phone celebration) I packed that celebration away, but the kids keep asking me to bring it about, so can't disappoint them. To be able to deliver under pressure against India was pleasing. (On SKY) He is a wonderful player and he has shown that again today. Aiden was brilliant with his changes. Since Rob has come in, he has created a brilliant environment in the team. He pushes hard in the field but also allows us to enjoy with our families. The results are there to show on the field.
Suryakumar Yadav reacts to India's loss
SKY | India captain: At the halfway stage, I thought it was a par score but they batted beautifully in the first 5-6 overs and took the game away from us. It was the brand of cricket we were talking about, just go out and express ourselves. It was tough with the wet ball, but we would face similar situations in the future and it's a good learning for us. Looking forward to the third T20I.

Maximum!
Heinrich Klaasen smashes six on the second ball of his innings
India and South Africa will be gearing up in preparation for the second T20I of their ongoing multi-format series. It is worth noting that both sides were slated to play the first T20I of the series at the Kingsmead Stadium on Sunday, December 10, however, due to excessive rain, the game was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
However, both sides will hope that the same will not be the case in the second clash of the series. The Men in Blue take on the Proteas in the second T20I on Tuesday, December 12 at St George's Park in Gqeberha.
With the clash right around the corner, it could be interesting to see how Team India fares in the conditions familiar to the Proteas. The Men in Blue have had a subpar record of playing in South Africa, and with Suryakumar Yadav leading the side in the shortest format, they will hope to topple the hosts.
On the other hand, South Africa will look to rejuvenate after the ODI World Cup 2023. Led by Temba Bavuma, the side managed to reach the semi-final stage of the tournament but were eliminated by eventual champions Australia. Furthermore, It is interesting to note that the last T20I series South Africa competed in was against Australia, where they lost 0-3. However, under the leadership of Aiden Markram, the Proteas will hope that the same could change against team India.
India look to keep momentum going
With the T20 World Cup 2024 on the horizon, both India and South Africa will hope that they can begin their preparations with a win. The Men in Blue will be coming into the series after a 4-1 thumping of Matthew Wade-led Australia in a T20I series, and it could be interesting to see if they can maintain their momentum.
