The Saad Bin Zafar-led side cannot afford to lose their next match against heavyweights India at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Lauderhill on June 15 and need a big win to remain alive in the Super Eight race. The challenge, however, won’t be a piece of cake, especially against the Men in Blue who have been exceptional so far in the tournament.
Canada lost the curtain-raiser to co-hosts USA by seven wickets. In their second match, they defeated Ireland by 12 runs. But the Canadian side is coming off a seven-wicket loss to Pakistan in their last game. Their bowlers have done a decent job in the tournament and have the potential to challenge the Indian batters. However, the batters need to pull up their socks to challenge the former champions.
For India, their bowlers have done brilliant form, especially Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh. All-rounder Hardik Pandya has struggled with the bat but has picked wickets regularly in crunch situations. Another positive for Rohit Sharma and co. is the form of wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube got some runs in the last game and will be confident coming in the forthcoming game. Surprisingly, Virat Kohli struggled in New York with three cheap dismissals in as many matches. The Men in Blue would want show the same intent against their final opponent before Super Eight.
