After losing the opening fixture, both Pakistan and Hong Kong will now play a virtual playoff in order to qualify for the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup. Pakistan lost their first match of the tournament by five wickets, while after a good display of cricket in the qualifiers, Hong Kong fought hard but went down by 40 runs against India. Going by the form and overall balance, Pakistan are a much better side and will step into the game as firm favourites.

With Shaheen Shah Afridi’s injury, the bowling line-up of Pakistan looked a bit shaky in the previous match. Naseem Shah did bowl well in the last match but his availability in this match is still a doubt. Captain Babar Azam previously spoke about it and called it just cramps but he is still not sure whether the young pacer will play the next match or not. Hasan Ali, someone with more experience, can come in place for him in case Naseem is ruled out. On the other hand, Mohammad Nawaz looked really good and in Sharjah, where the spinners will get some help, he can be a dangerous weapon.

Coming to the batters, they will have to show some courage. There’s enough talent in the team but the top three need to accelerate to give Pakistan a good start. Even if they manage to win against Hong Kong, they might face a lot of problems against more prominent sides.

Talking about Hong Kong, the team has the potential to cause an upset. Against India, the batters looked sharp and if they keep up with the momentum, it will be an interesting contest. Ehsan Khan, the veteran spinner, can be equally effective as Mohammad Nawaz. Just like in the case of Pakistan, the Hong Kong top order needs to return to form, too.

Here’s how the weather might be during Pakistan versus Hong Kong game

The temperature will be around 28 degrees celsius in Sharjah when Pakistan will challenge Hong Kong. The wind will gust at around 25 km/h with 3% chance of cloud cover. There’s no possibility of rain during the match.

Bowling first will be ideal in this condition. As mentioned earlier, the spinners will get a lot of support from the surface. Anything above 160 can be considered a good target.
