New Zealand (NZ) sent a second-string team to play the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh (BAN). The 'Bangla Tigers' also rested a few of their stalwarts. After the first ODI ended in no result, the Kiwis emerged victorious by 86 runs in the second game on Saturday. New Zealand lead the series 1-0, with the final game set to be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, on Tuesday, September 26.
For the third ODI, the 'Bangla Tigers' have made quite a few changes to their squad, with a fit-again Najmul Hossain Shanto taking up the captaincy role from Litton Das. The wicketkeeper-batter has been rested for the final game alongside Tamim Iqbal and Mustafizur Rahman. The likes of Taskin Ahmed, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Shoriful Islam have returned to the side to get some game time ahead of the ODI World Cup, starting next month.
For the Blackcaps, Henry Nicholls has been among the runs as he has scores of 44 and 49 in the two games. He will look to get a big one in the all-important final game. Ish Sodhi was phenomenal in the second ODI as he finished with career-best figures of 6/39 in 10 overs. He will hold the key in the middle overs.
