Meanwhile, the Ashton Turner-led Scorchers played the season opener against the Melbourne Stars and registered a six-wicket win. Opting to bat first, the Stars managed to score 146 runs in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, the Perth-based franchise later chased down the target with relative ease, thanks to Cooper Connolly's brilliant 64-run knock.
