The four-match ODI series between England (ENG) and New Zealand (NZ) is intriguingly poised at 1-1. The third ODI is set to take place at the Kennington Oval in London, on Wednesday, September 13.

In the first ODI, England posted a challenging target of 292 but unbeaten centuries from Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell helped the tourists win in a canter. Tom Latham's men carried the momentum they got from that win and started the second ODI phenomenally. Trent Boult, who returned to ODI cricket after almost a year, picked up three wickets inside the first five overs to have the hosts on the mat. Harry Brook and Jos Buttler also couldn't last long as England were reeling at 55/6.

From this point onwards, the current ODI world champions started a memorable recovery. Liam Livingstone remained unbeaten on 95 off 78 balls while Moeen Ali and Sam Curran gave him ample support as England finished at 226/7, in the 34-over-per-side contest. Daryl Mitchell was once again among the runs as he scored a half-century but the other batters couldn't get going. In the end, England won by 79 runs to level the series. The third ODI also promises to be a riveting contest.

Kennington Oval Pitch Report:

The pitch at the Kennington Oval is expected to be a batting belter, where batters are going to enjoy themselves. The outfield is also quite quick and batters are going to get high rewards for their shots. Bowlers will have to make the new ball count as once it gets old, it will be quite difficult to contain the batters. Teams chasing have achieved more success in ODIs at this venue. 30 matches have been won batting first while 42 have been won batting second. Three games have ended in a No Result.

ENG vs NZ Probable Playing XI

England (ENG)

Jonny Bairstow, Harry Brook, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler (c & wk), Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, David Willey, Gus Atkinson, Reece Topley

New Zealand (NZ)

Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Will Young, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham (c & wk), Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry, Tim Southee, Trent Boult

Probable Best Performers

Probable Best Batter

Daryl Mitchell – New Zealand

The right-handed batter had a disastrous T20I series against England, prior to the ODIs, as he scored just 29 runs in four matches. However, he has returned to form in the 50-over format with a century and a half-century in his last two innings. He has also scored his runs at a strike rate of 122.38. The Blackcaps will hope that Mitchell continues his purple patch in the third ODI as he has the ability to go big.

Probable Best Bowler

Trent Boult - New Zealand

The left-arm seamer continued from where he left international cricket as he swung the new ball both ways in the second ODI and caused the England batters all sorts of trouble. If he can make some early inroads, it will give his team the upper hand before conditions ease out for the batters.
