Head coach Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma have experimented a lot during the ongoing ODI series against the West Indies (WI) and it has thrown up more questions than answers. India's batting has been disappointing in the two matches. Chasing a paltry 115 in the first ODI, the tourists lost five wickets but eventually crossed the finishing line. In the second ODI, however, the batting came a cropper yet again as they were dismissed for 181 while batting first. Regular captain Rohit Sharma and former captain Virat Kohli were rested for this encounter.

West Indies would be buoyed by their win in the second ODI by six wickets that helped them keep the series alive. However, they would know that the Indians will hit back hard in the third game and the hosts need to be at their best to counter the same.

This will be the first men’s international ODI played at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Tarouba, and the second men’s international match overall. India and West Indies faced off in a T20I here in 2022, as the away side won by 68 runs after scoring 190 in the first innings. The slow and low pitch hasn’t favoured batters at this venue. Hence, the batters will have to grind it out as shotmaking won’t be an easy task in the Third ODI of the series.
