But in the next game, their endeavours will be to beat Challengers and strengthen themselves on the points table to get closer to the playoffs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has performed exceptionally in the tournament and is the second-leading run-getter with 575 runs in 12 matches at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 167.15. In the last match, he came heavily on KKR with his bat and now, the RR team management will expect him to continue his form in the upcoming game.

Jos Buttler looked in great touch against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) but against KKR, he couldn’t do much with his bat due to his unfortunate run out. However, forgetting his previous match’s failure, the stalwart will look forward to being among the runs against RCB.

Middle-Order: Sanju Samson, Joe Root, Dhruv Jurel & Shimron Hetmyer

RR skipper Sanju Samson exuded confidence with his bat in the last three games and he will strive to do the same against RCB to help his team come out victorious in the mega contest in front of the home crowd. Scoring 356 runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of 156.14, he is the third-leading run-scorer for his team in this competition.

Joe Root has featured in RR’s playing XI in the last couple of matches but didn’t get a chance to bat. Royals will want the English cricketer to showcase his batting skills and turn up against bowlers if he gets an opportunity to bat.

The 22-year-old Dhruv Jurel has displayed mettle with his bat in a few matches of the competition, but the youngster will have to step up and deliver solid knocks to his side when it is needed the most. Thus far, he has failed to do that but the RR team management and captain Samson will not lose faith in the youngster.

Against KKR, Shimron Hetmyer served his team efficiently with his fielding. The dashing Caribbean player pulled off sensational catches to dismiss dangerous Jason Roy and Nitish Rana. However, his batting display hasn’t been upto the mark in the last few games. In the next couple of matches, his form will be essential to take the team to the next round.

All-rounder: Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin has looked spectacular for Royals as the veteran has consistently bowled thrifty and wicket-taking spells for his team. Along with Yuzvendra Chahal, the 36-year-old has bolstered RR’s spin attack with his effective performances. In this season, he is the second-highest wicket-taker for the 2008 IPL champions with 14 wickets in 12 matches at an economy of 7.44.

Bowlers: Trent Boult, Sandeep Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal, & KM Asif

RR heavily count on Trent Boult to get explosive starts with the ball against rivals, and the New Zealand stalwart never disappoints his team with his disciplined bowling. Against RCB’s quality batting line-up, his role will be vital to help his team to be in a commanding position in the game. So far, the Kiwi bowler has picked up 12 wickets in nine matches at an economy of 8.14.

Sandeep Sharma has done his job excellently with the ball. Along with experienced Boult, his responsibility was to ensure contributing to Royals' bowling unit and he has done it by delivering canny and wicket-taking spells. Against Challengers, he will back himself to provide a solid bowling performance to his team.

This year, Yuzvendra Chahal has shown why he is one of the best spinners in business. After clinching the Purple Cap in the previous IPL edition, the leggie is in the race for clinching the prestigious award in 2023 as well. Currently, he is placed in the second position on the leading wicket-taker chart, with 21 wickets in 12 matches at an economy of 7.91. Chahal’s bowling show will be a crucial factor for RR in a couple of big games coming ahead.

KM Asif will look forward to providing solid bowling numbers to his team at this crucial stage of the tournament. The medium-pacer has got only three games from his team, wherein he has bagged only one wicket at an expensive economy of 9.60. However, the 29-year-old’s endeavours will be to utilise his vast domestic experience and bring cheers to RR’s fans with his bowling.
