Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings square off in match 11 of the IPL 2024, on Saturday, March 30, at the renowned Ekana Cricket Stadium, in Lucknow.

LSG have only played one match so far in the league. They made the trip to Jaipur to face Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium last week. Royals won the toss and opted to bat first in the afternoon fixture. Sanju Samson scored a brilliant half-century as the hosts posted 193/4 in their 20 overs.

In reply, Super Giants lost three wickets in their first four overs. In the eighth over, Deepak Hooda perished as LSG were reeling at 60/4. However, an 85-run partnership off 52 balls between skipper KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran brought them back in the run chase. However, the Royals held their nerves commendably in the death overs and emerged victorious by 20 runs. Half-centuries from Rahul and Pooran went in vain.

Speaking of Punjab Kings, the side won their first match of IPL 2024 by four wickets against Delhi Capitals at their new home in Chandigarh. A tidy bowling performance helped Shikhar Dhawan and Co. restrict Capitals to 174/9. Sam Curran scored a half-century in the second innings, as Punjab went on to win by four wickets with as many balls to spare.

After a bright start, PBKS hit a roadblock when they clashed at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The Faf du Plessis-led Bengaluru bowled well to keep Punjab to 176/6 in the first innings. Virat Kohli played a phenomenal innings to help the home team win with four wickets in the last over.

In the ongoing IPL 2024, both teams are coming into the upcoming fixture on the back of losses. Hence, they will want to turn their fortunes and bounce back strongly in the tournament.

Last year, LSG played their home matches on two kinds of surfaces at this stadium. One was a belter where batters enjoyed their time in the middle. However, there was also a pitch that favoured the spinners as the ball would keep low and chasing scores proved quite difficult. The second kind of pitch was right down the then-mentor Gautam Gambhir's alley.

However, the former India cricketer has joined Kolkata Knight Riders as the mentor this season. There could be a possibility of the Ekana offering a batting surface where the likes of Nicholas Pooran, KL Rahul, and Marcus Stoinis can express themselves freely.
