New Zealand and Sri Lanka are all set to continue their ongoing series as both sides will face off in the second ODI of the series at Seddon Park, in Hamilton, on Wednesday, January 8

The opening game saw the Kiwis clinch a nine-wicket victory with 142 balls to spare. The hosts after winning the toss, elected to field first and did a good job by bowling out the Lankan Lions to just 178 runs in 43.4 overs. The tourists' innings included contributions from Avishka Fernando, Janith Liyanage, and Wanindu Hasaranga, respectively. For the BlackCaps, Matt Henry was the star, as he ended with figures of 4 for 19. Jacob Duffy and Nathan Smith also chipped in with two wickets each.

In reply, the hosts' innings saw them get off to a flying start, thanks to Will Young and Rachin Ravindra's quickfire knocks. The duo stitched a 93-run partnership in just 12.3 overs before Ravindra was dismissed for 45 runs. Meanwhile, Young continued the onslaught and hammered an unbeaten 90* to make sure the side registers a convincing win and gets a lead in the series.

Probable Top Performers from NZ vs SL

Probable Best Batter: Will Young

New Zealand's opener Will Young could be the best batter in the second ODI against Sri Lanka. The right-handed batter was in fine form in the opener as he smashed a match-winning knock of 90 runs. In his 86-ball unbeaten innings, he hit 12 boundaries. Young will be riding high on confidence and look to carry the same form in this game.

Probable Best Bowler: Matt Henry

Veteran pacer Matt Henry was brilliant to watch in the first ODI played at Basin Reserve. The speedster in his quota of 10 overs conceded just 19 runs and took four wickets. Henry ran through the Sri Lankan batting line-up and earned the much-deserving Player of the Match award. Henry will once again look to run in hard and pick those crucial wickets for his team.
