The Kiwis are coming off an eight-wicket win over Bangladesh in their previous encounter. New Zealand restricted Shakib Al Hasan and Co. to 245, with Lockie Ferguson claiming a three-wicket haul. The Kane Williamson-led then chased down the target in 42.5 overs, thanks to half-centuries from the captain and Daryl Mitchell.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, opened their account after a historic win over England in Delhi. After being invited to bat first, Afghanistan posted 284 runs courtesy of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ikram Alikhil’s half-centuries. MA Chidambaram Stadium Pitch Report:

The stadium in Chennai generally assists spinners as the wicket gets slower as the game progresses. According to the previous games, pacers will also benefit in the second innings. Chasing is an easier task at the venue as the ball turns during the day, and the dew which comes later will help the batters.
