The inaugural champions, Southern Brave, played well last season and were eventually ousted in the Eliminator by Manchester Originals. In the round-robin stage, Southern Brave won four games, and lost three, while one ended in a no-result. They finished third on the points table.

Meanwhile, London Spirit had a forgettable campaign last season as they managed to win only two out of their eight games. They lost four, while two games finished without a result. London eventually finished at No. 7 on the points table. Notably, Southern Brave and London Spirit have retained their captains - James Vince and Dan Lawrence, respectively. Vince will work in tandem with head coach Stephen Fleming, while Lawrence will be assisted by Trevor Bayliss.
