The defending champions Perth Scorchers have begun their campaign in style as they currently are the only undefeated team in the tournament and sitting right at the top of the table. Their opponent Sydney Thunder however had the exact opposite fate as they are yet to win a single match and currently are at the bottom of the table. Thus, without a doubt, Rachael Haynes and company will be under tremendous pressure and will have a massive task on their hands when they challenge the Scorchers at WACA stadium on October 22.
After two comfortable wins, the Sophie Devine-led side struggled to get going in the previous match against Melbourne Stars. Being a batting-heavy side, the batters struggled in the middle but it was Beth Mooney (35) and Amy Louise Edgar (21) who helped the Scorchers remain undefeated. The bowlers were once again top-notch as they dismissed the Stars for just 110 runs after 20 overs. Taneale Peschel, Lilly Mills and Piepa Cleary picked up two wickets each to stop the Stars from taking advantage. The team has already defeated Sydney Thunders earlier in the tournament and thus, will start as the favourites to get another win over them.
Coming to Thunders, nothing has gone right for the team so far. Their batting woes continue to haunt them while their bowling has been pretty average. However, the team looks to be a balanced one on paper. Thus the players just need to take responsibility in order to help the team get back into winning momentum. After a horrible season the last time around, fans expected them to turn up in 2022 but that surely hasn’t been the case. Despite having the likes of Tammy Beaumont, Amy Jones, Rachael Haynes and Sammy-Jo Johnson, their struggle as a batting unit is baffling to understand.

PS-W vs ST-W, Match 14, Pitch Report
The pitch at WACA helps the bowlers early into the game but with time, the batters tend to dominate. The team winning the toss will aim to bowl first as anything below 150 should be an easy target to chase.

PS-W vs ST-W, Match 14, Probable Top Performers
Probable best batter
Beth Mooney:
The Perth Scorchers opener, Beth Mooney is in terrific form with the bat and currently is the eighth leading run-scorer of the tournament. The 28-year-old has scored 92 runs in the tournament at a strike rate of 85.18. She played a valuable knock for the team in the last match and now against a relatively weak bowling line-up of Sydney Thunders, the southpaw can once again play a decisive knock.
Probable best bowler
Marizanne Kapp:
Along with Alana King, the South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp has picked up five wickets for the Scorchers in the tournament. With an economy of just 3.83, the 32-year-old has been phenomenal in the tournament so far and is likely to increase her tally as the Thunders batting unit has been below aveage so far in the tournament.
