'130s are the best to face in Australia' - Rishabh Pant takes leaf out of memoirs down under to advice England

Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant was declared as match fit by the apex governing body, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). As a result, the swashbuckling southpaw is ready to step on the cricket field. He will be making his return to the Indian Premier League 2024. Before he graces the impending league, the Delhi Capitals captain gave some advice to the England team, who will be travelling to Australia in the 2025/26 summer for the Ashes. 

The 26-year-old became an overnight sensation after his shenanigans in Australia. During India’s tour to Australia in 2021, India were on the brink of losing the trophy if not for Pant. In the Gabba Test, Pant’s unbeaten 89 runs, saw India sail through the troubled waters and retain the trophy. Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan citing his heroics, asked for his advice to the English side touring Australia.

"As a batter I would say look to cut the ball rather than punch it. Australia is the best place to cut and pull. Also, you need to have extra pace (in bowling department). 130s are the best to face in Australia even if the ball is moving around. I think it makes a lot of difference (having pace)," Pant said while interacting with cricket legends on the Club Prairie podcast.

It is important to keep their head down and not think too much: Pant

However, Rishabh Pant was absent during the India versus England Test series, owing to his recuperation process. In his absence, youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, and Dhruv Jurel stepped up to the occasion and delivered crucial knocks. Particularly, Jaiswal was termed as Man of the Series as he amassed 712 runs, which included two double hundreds. Speaking of such performances, the southpaw highlighted the importance of staying humble after achieving those feats.

"Over a period of time, new people come to the team and every time you may not see them perform. But when they do it is important to keep their head down and not think too much. Jaiswal is someone who is very down to earth and if he keeps doing what he is doing then he is going to go a long way,” he added.
