As another Indian Premier League season came to a close, it was history repeating itself, with Chennai Super Kings going on to win the title, making it their fifth IPL title overall. In the final of the IPL 2023 edition, CSK defeated the defending champions, Gujarat Titans, by five wickets in a last-ball thriller at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Speaking to Harsha Bhogle after the game in his final IPL season, Rayudu stated it was a magical ending, and he could not have wished for anything more. Before the IPL 2023 final, Rayudu made the announcement that he will be retiring after the conclusion of the current campaign.
“Yes, I mean it is a fairytale finish. I can smile for the rest of my life, I couldn't have asked for more. I mean, it is unbelievable. Was fortunate to have this,” said Rayudu.
The former Indian player also continued by saying he could smile for the rest of his life and also expressed his gratitude towards his family for supporting him during his IPL adventure. In the IPL 2023 final, Rayudu scored 19 runs off eight balls while hitting two sixes and a boundary.
We are winning the final: Deepak Chahar
During Rayudu's discussion with Bhogle, CSK fast bowler Deepak Chahar also joined in and said that the 37-year-old always assured him that CSK would win the IPL 2023 final before the match.
“Every time we had a discussion at dinner time, he said we are winning the final. He said we will win the final every time we spoke,” Chahar said.
