'A sleeping person can wake up, they are unconscious' - Salman Butt slams Pakistan selectors on T20 World Cup 2022 selection
Pakistan start their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign against India on October 23 at the MCG.
Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt went down heavily on the selectors while answering a query on Pakistan's T20 World Cup 2022 squad. One of the major issues in the Pakistan batting line-up has been their struggling middle-order that has found it tough to perform consistently. The likes of Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Asif Ali have all failed consistently while their replacements Haider Ali and Mohammad Haris haven’t made much of an impact either.
More to the woes, Pakistan lost their home series against England recently after they suffered a defeat in the final of Asia Cup 2022 against Sri Lanka. The performances in the ongoing New Zealand Tri-Series haven’t been very convincing, however, the Pakistan management has backed the middle order to come good.
Salman doesn't seem impressed with the selections and reserves for the T20 World Cup 2022 and he gave a savage reply to a journalist.
Salman Butt feels Mohammad Haris shouldn't have been picked
Butt feels that Mohammad Haris travelling as a second wicketkeeper-batter in reserves alongside Fakhar Zaman is not the best option and elaborated on the form of Haris in T20Is.
“Your second wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris is in traveling reserves. Fakhar Zaman is also in reserves, and he is not in form as well. Dahani is also in reserves. You picked Haris. He played five to six matches in National T20… he doesn't even have a score of 15. He dropped three catches in one match,” Butt told during a chat on Cric Bridge YouTube channel.
The host of the chat sarcastically said that the selectors are sleeping, and Butt’s savage reply to that has gone viral.
“A sleeping person can wake up. Ye toh behosh hain (they are unconscious),” Butt replied to the journalist.
