Team India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan as they beat them by six wickets in the second T20I on Sunday, January 14 at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal starred with the bat scoring 68 off 34 balls smashing five fours and five sixes in his innings along with Shivam Dube (63* off 32).

Jaiswal has impressed everyone in his short T20I career scoring 498 runs from 15 innings at an average of 35.57 and a strike rate of 163.81 with one hundred and four fifties to his name. Following his another match-winning fifty in the second T20I, former India cricketer turned commentator, Aakash Chopra feels the 22-year-old is undroppable from the T20I squad and has pipped Shubman Gill in selection.

“Yashasvi is going. Again, the way he is batting. You will feel it would be unfair if you do not take him. Sometimes you are undroppable, meaning he is selectable. That is why he is here, making runs. Now he has gone beyond (Shubman) Gill. But now you will not be able to touch him,” said Chopra on his YouTube channel.

Further speaking ahead, Chopra said that the team shouldn’t even think about dropping him or else the entire batting line up will have players batting at the same tempo.

“You should not even try for it (not selecting Jaiswal) because you need something like this while batting. Otherwise, it will be the same as 2022; again and again, everything will be the same, the style of playing will be the same and only the year has changed,” he added.

On the other hand, Shubman Gill has scored 335 runs from 14 innings in T20Is at an average of 25.76 with just two fifty-plus scores including one century. The 24-year-old has been failing continuously in the last four innings in the shortest format amassing just 40 runs and hence, has fallen behind Jaiswal in the race for playing XI.

Meanwhile, India will look to complete a whitewash over Afghanistan as they take them on in the third T20I on Wednesday, January 17 at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
