'No obligation to tell the world what's happening in your life' - Aakash Chopra on Virat Kohli's absence from England Tests
As per reports, Kohli might miss the remainder of the Test series against England as well.
Star India batter Virat Kohli backed out of the first two Test matches against England citing personal reasons. As things stand, the 35-year-old may miss the upcoming two Tests in Rajkot and Ranchi as well, but there isn’t enough clarity on the matter.
Recently, his long-time friend AB de Villiers spilled the beans, stating that the cricketer is expecting his second child but neither Kohli nor his wife Anushka Sharma have confirmed the news.
Speaking about the same, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra stated that Kohli has the right to stay mute on the matter. He added that the Delhi-born batter will speak about it when he’s comfortable and explained that the fans are not required to know everything about the personal lives of the cricketers.
“AB de Villiers spilled the beans slightly but we have no idea at all what exactly is happening in his life. Personally, I won't try to find out as well. We will get to hear once he is comfortable. You also don't know what goes on in my life. I only share what I want to share,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
“Similarly, you also share with others whatever you want to share about your life. There is no obligation that you need to tell the entire world what's happening in your life. So Virat Kohli has taken a break. He had asked for privacy through BCCI or BCCI did it themselves, so we will maintain that,” the former India opener added.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul is likely to come back to the playing XI in the third Test against England. The stumper-batter missed the Visakhapatnam Test due to a minor injury but is fit to make his return. If Kohli remains out of action, Rahul is expected to replace Rajat Patidar in the playing XI, who made his debut in the second Test of the series.
