Over the years, team India have had a plethora of spinners, considered some of the best in the world. The likes of Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, and Ravichandran Ashwin have dominated world cricket with their spin bowling. The team’s dominance with spin is one of the biggest reasons that they have dominated world cricket over the years.
The modern spinners of the Indian team are a force to be reckoned with as well. When the world’s best spinners are discussed, the names of Ravindra Jadeja and Yuzvendra Chahal are at the top of the list. Jadeja has 259 wickets in 62 Test matches, 189 wickets in 171 ODI matches, and 51 wickets in 64 T20I matches.
Chahal boasts a fabulous record with the national team as well. The 32-year-old has 121 wickets to his name in 72 ODI matches and 91 wickets in 75 T20I matches.
However, former Pakistani cricketer Abdur Rehman launched an unexpected attack aimed at Chahal and Jadeja. Rehman even went as far as labelling the spinners as "pathetic" and "horrible" bowlers and opined that Jadeja could only perform after MS Dhoni's guidance.
'There is no force in his deliveries, and he cannot spin the ball much' - Rehman puts forth his opinion on Yuzvendra Chahal
Recently, Abdur Rehman was asked about the worst Indian spinner. At first, he opted not to answer the question and opined that no spinner is bad if he is representing his country, but he did answer the question after host Nadir Ali insisted on getting an answer.
"Jadeja jab shuru mein aya tha, woh fariq spinner tha" (Jadeja was a pathetic bowler when he first started his career). Under MS Dhoni's captaincy, he was prepared in such a way that he is now a No. 1 bowler. Chahal is also a horrible bowler. You can hit him easily. There is no force in his deliveries, and he cannot spin the ball much. Lambe race ka ghoda nehi hai," Rehman said on the YouTube channel, "Nadir Ali podcast."
