Former Andhra Pradesh captain Hanuma Vihari has been served a show cause notice by The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) for alleging that there is political interference within the board over cricketing decisions. A show cause notice is nothing but an organization taking disciplinary action against the person associated with the organization, who has made allegations or tried to disrupt the image of the entity.
After Andhra Pradesh were thwarted by Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy semi-final, Vihari had come out and said that he would never play for Andhra again. He cited the intensive political interference in the cricketing matters. He alleged this over an Instagram post and also added that he was forced to step down as the captain of the team. Vihar has yet to respond to the notice he has been served by the board.
"Yes, we have served him a show-cause notice and we are awaiting his reply. This is just to find what made him react the way he did last month. He has not reached out to us, so this is a chance for him to come out with his grievances. After all, we value Vihari and his contributions to the growth of state cricket as he has played a big part in Andhra going up in the ranks in domestic cricket," an ACA official said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
Glaring issue of ACA under the political shadow
The issue stemmed from an alleged altercation between Vihari and the 17th player of the Andhra Pradesh team, KN Prudhuvi Raj. It is worth noting that Prudhuvi Raj is the son of a well-known politician from Andhra Pradesh. The rumours are rife that he played a major role in pipping his father to take action against Vihari and subsequently ACA removing him as captain. However, Raj had denied these claims via a social media post.
"Personal attacks and vulgar language are not acceptable in any kind of human platform. Everyone in the team knows what happened that day," Raj wrote on his Instagram handle.
