Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) is planning to build the world’s biggest cricket stadium in Amaravati. Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is currently the largest cricket stadium in the world, after overtaking Australia’s Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The new stadium in Amaravati is said to surpass the seating capacity of Narendra Modi Stadium, also known as Motera Stadium, and is currently quoted to reach 1,25,000 capacity.
ACA President and MP from Vijayawada, Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) revealed that the association has requested 60 acres of the land from the Andhra Pradesh government. This project is also a part of an even more ambitious project of building a 200 acre large sports city in Amaravati. Sivanath also added that ACA will seek financial assistance from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and further funds would be raised locally.
"This stadium will not only redefine cricket infrastructure in the country but also put Amaravati on the global sporting map," said Chinni as quoted by Times of India.
ACA sets high aims for upcoming talent from state
Furthermore, ACA is also planning for state-of-the-art cricket academies in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Vijayawada, and Rayalaseema. The association has also made its intentions clear to bid for the 2029 National Games, which will bolster Andhra Pradesh’s presence in Indian sports development. To oversee the academies, former India Women’s cricketer Mithali Raj and former cricketer, Robin Singh will be roped in to nurture the upcoming talents.

Not only the infrastructure, Sivanath has set a goal for the young talent for Andhra Pradesh. He added that the association’s goal is to see at least 15 players from the state to procure the Indian Premier League contracts in the next two years. For the unversed, Andhra talent, Nitish Kumar Reddy, who plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL, is now an integral part of Indian cricket team.
