ACC releases updated Women's Asia Cup 2024 schedule, India to play Pakistan on July 19

Women's cricket has once again peaked with Indian Women clinching an emphatic series victory at home recently. Hence as time passes by, another major event is going to commence soon where the top Asian teams will tussle with each other for continental glory.
Notably, the upcoming Women's Asia Cup 2024 will feature the top eight teams of the continent. The exciting cricket action will kickstart on July 19 and it will conclude on July 28. The tournament will be hosted by Sri Lanka in Dambulla. In the same vein, the Asian Cricket Council took to their social media to unveil an updated schedule for the cricket fans.
"Here is the updated schedule for the ACC Women’s Asia Cup 2024. Brace yourselves for an action-packed tournament featuring the top 8 women's cricket teams in Asia. Mark your calendars, as it is going to kick off on July 19th, 2024, in Dambulla, Sri Lanka!" the continental cricket governing body Asian Cricket Council wrote on their 'X' handle on Tuesday.

Archrivals India and Pakistan will clash earlier in updated schedule
Now speaking of the Women's Asia Cup 2024 schedule, earlier India Women were charted to play the archrivals Pakistan Women on July 21. However, as per the updated schedule, the ACC has shifted the game to July 19 instead. Notably, this will also be the first time that eight teams will be taking centre stage in the coveted tournament. So far only seven teams have made their presence in the continental event.

The Asian teams are divided into two groups whereby the top two teams from the respective groups will qualify for the semifinals which are scheduled for July 26. While the final will be played on July 28. Besides, along with the archrivals, Nepal and UAE have been grouped with Team India. While teams like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Malaysia have been charted in Group B.
Notably, the Women's Asia Cup was last played in Bangladesh, back in the year 2022, where India Women lifted their seventh title after beating Sri Lanka Women convincingly by eight wickets in the grand final. The Asia Cup was postponed for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
