Worcestershire pacer Adam Finch has delayed his knee surgery until the end of the ongoing domestic season. The 24-year-old is set to be available for the final of the County Championship campaign and will aim to assist his side in their fight to stay in the top flight.

It is worth noting that Finch has been on the sidelines since the end of June 2024, ever since he suffered the setback against Surrey in the Championship fixture at Visit Worcestershire New Road. After the scans revealed a double tear to a capsule in Finch’s knee and the meniscus, he requires an operation on his meniscus, which will be followed by long rehab work. Despite the major setback, Finch wants to put it all aside and help his side fight relegation. He recently came forward and explained his game plan, hoping that everything went accordingly.

“The idea is to put off surgery until after the season so I can hopefully get through these games before having it. From what Andy Powell (Head Of Sports Science And Medicine) and the doctor have said, it is a pretty long rehab, so the sooner I can get it done at the end of the season, the better,” Finch was quoted as saying by the Worcestershire County Cricket Club.

“But if it was possible to, I wanted to contribute in any way I could to try and help the team stay up essentially. It has been a massive ambition of ours the whole year and, if I could, I wanted to play as much as a role as I could in that as I can. I’m okay to play against Kent and it sounds as if Leachy (Joe Leach) should be all good as well. I’m just keen to get back and help the lads in anyway I can really,” he added.

It is worth noting that Finch took 28 wickets in seven County Championship matches last season, and had taken 13 wickets in six matches before he got injured.
