Afghanistan reveal jersey for T20 World Cup 2024

With the T20 World Cup 2024 rapidly approaching, various sides have come forward and revealed their jerseys for the upcoming mega event. It is worth noting that the World Cup will kick off on June 1 and will be co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies. 

Recently, Afghanistan Cricket became the most recent entry in the list as the side revealed their colours for the T20 World Cup 2024. Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) posted a video where they showed the significance of their jersey. 

Taking inspiration from the Lapis Lazuli region and Afghanistan’s connections with its tribes, the team was delighted to announce the reveal of the colours that they will don in the upcoming World Cup. 

“Presenting Before You, AfghanAtalan’s Jersey for the #T20WorldCup! This attire symbolizes Afghanistan’s unity with its tribes and the picturesque Lapis Lazuli region, along with an illustration of wheat, bringing a captivating touch to the stadiums,” the ACB captioned the post.

Afghanistan take on Uganda in first T20 World Cup clash

Speaking of the T20 World Cup 2024 and Afghanistan, the tournament will be played with 20 teams, divided into four groups of five. Afghanistan finds itself in Group C with the likes of New Zealand, the West Indies, Papua New Guinea, and Uganda. 

The side will kick off its campaign by taking on Uganda. Both sides will face off in the fifth game of the tournament at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on June 3, 2024. With it being the first game of the competition for Afghanistan, the team will aim to make the most of it and get off to a flying start. 

With the likes of New Zealand and the hosts, the West Indies, present in their group, it could prove to be quite the challenge for Afghanistan to qualify. However, with a few early wins in the competition, Afghanistan could prove to be the dark horse of the tournament.
