Mumbai Indians leg spinner Karn Sharma bowled a match-winning spell against the Delhi Capitals in Match 29 of IPL 2025. After his match-turning spell, the 37-year-old veteran talked about the moments that changed the game in MI’s favor and got them back after facing a tough period with the ball in the first half of their defence.

There was a lot of surprise as Karn Sharma suddenly came in as an Impact Player in he game against the Capitals, but it turned out to be a great decision from the five-time champions as he finally finished with a spell of 3/36 in his full quota of four overs. The Uttar Pradesh cricketer was also awarded a Player of the Match award for his exceptional spell.

Though Karn took three big wickets during the innings, dismissing the likes of Abhishek Porel, KL Rahul, and Tristan Stubbs, he has revealed that it was the wicket of Karun Nair that got the game back in their favor and led to a flurry of wickets falling.

“At that time, the situation was like they were going 10-11 runs per over, so my role was just to take wickets in the middle overs, and the way they were batting, every wicket was important. Obviously, KL Rahul is a big name, and he had finished the game for them in the last match. But all the wickets were important for us at that time. After Karun got out, their momentum broke. And after that, we got two-three wickets quickly. That changed the game,” Sharma said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

Have played a lot in Delhi: Karn

The bowling all-rounder also revealed that he has played a lot at Kotla and knows the surface in Delhi and what it has to offer for the bowlers. There was some dew in the second innings, which was making it tough for the bowlers to grip the ball. Karn also said that the new rule of changing the ball had benefited him as well.

“I have played a lot in Delhi, so I know how the ball will behave on this wicket, but we didn't expect dew because there was no dew in the first innings. When you get the ball replaced, the new ball has an upright seam, so it gives you purchase from the wicket. That helped us,” the veteran leggie concluded.
