Against India, strength of the Black Caps is going to be their bowling: Scott Styris

India and New Zealand are facing each other at Dharamshala and ahead of the high-profile game, former cricketer Scott Styris talked about how Kiwi's main strength is going to be their bowling. New Zealand will be keen on doing something similar to what they did in World Cup 2019 against India during the semi-final, Styris mulled.

Hosting JioCinema’s daily sports show ‘#AAKASHVANI,’ Aakash Chopra spoke to former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris, who explained his team’s strength and what they should do to beat India in Dharamsala today. “The strength of the Black Caps is going to be their bowling. I think they are going to employ a similar strategy to what they did in the 2019 World Cup where they relied on their bowling. They’ve got a lot of experience, they’ve got a lot of variety.

You’ve got the left-arm spinner (Mitchell) Santner, you’ve got the right and left-arm fast bowlers who can swing the ball. Matt Henry is very good with the new ball in particular and Lockie Ferguson with that pace he has. I think now they should buck the trend and stay away from the power game and rely on the bowlers doing their job and keeping the opposition down to the slightly lower score to chase.” 

Chopra explained what India should do if they win the toss today.  “India should bat first if they win the toss. They didn’t do that against Pakistan but here I feel the team batting first is going to win the game. If New Zealand bat first, I feel they will win the match. That’s because their three pace bowlers Matt Henry, Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson won’t let you breathe. The ball will move a bit. As it is, Hardik (Pandya) is missing, so the batting depth has been affected.”
