Aiden Markram will have a world class tournament for Sunrisers Eastern Cape: Jacques Kallis
Notably, Markram has registered only two half-centuries in the last 10 games he has played for South Africa (four Tests and six T20Is).
There are a great deal of domestic and international cricketers who are set to feature in the 2025 edition of the SA20. Quite a few of them have been delivering in the international circuit for a long period of time, adding to the buzz surrounding the tournament. South Africa's T20I skipper, Aiden Markram, is one amongst them.
Former Proteas great and the ambassador of the SA20, Jacques Kallis, in a recent discussion, spoke about the chances of Markram's side, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, winning their third title on the trot and why he felt that they had what it took to achieve the milestone.
“It’s going to be tough. I suppose when you've won the title once, you’ve got that cap on your head, and everybody wants to knock it off. They managed to defend it a second time, which was a great effort. To do it a third time would be even tougher, because now everybody is really after you. That said, I do think they’ve got the team to achieve it. Their planning has been good, and they’ve got a calm coach who has clicked very well with the side. So, can they win it for a third time? Yes, I believe they can. It will be interesting to see how they go about it,” shared Kallis told Star Sports.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he has a world-class tournament: Kallis
The former all-rounder also shared his viewes on Markram, who has been going through a rough patch of late. Kallis exhibited confidence in Markram and was excited on how he contributes to the Sunrisers' unit. Notably, Markram has registered only two half-centuries in the last 10 games he has played for South Africa (four Tests and six T20Is).
“I don’t think his current form will affect his captaincy. It might even motivate him to have a great season and get back into form. He’s a strong character and will want to contribute. As a player, you’re always aiming for a better season than the last, and I’m sure he’ll want to lead from the front. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a world-class tournament and plays a big role in getting his team into the back end of the competition. I’m looking forward to seeing how he goes about it,” added Kallis.
