'All players in our team are tabaahi' - Rishabh Pant weighs in on LSG teammates ahead of IPL 2025
The southpaw was acquired by LSG for a whopping INR 27 crore.
The 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League will be Lucknow Super Giants' fourth season in the marquee tournament. The mega auction ahead of the 18th edition of the IPL saw them acquire a whole lot of fresh talent in addition to seasoned individuals.
One of the hottest deals of the two-day event which was conducted in Jeddah was that of Rishabh Pant. In a recent discussion, he commented on southpaws, Nicholas Pooran and David Miller, and the overall composition of the squad.
“Nicholas Pooran is my friend. I have had chats with him when I was recovering. David Miller has been phenomenal. What he’s doing and his experience. Finishing the games. There are a lot of youngsters. All the players in our team are tabaahi (destructive)” shared Pant during a conversation on JioStar.

Pant is like Lucknowi chaat: Goenka
LSG's owner, Sanjiv Goenka, was effusive in his praise of the Indian wicketkeeper-batter. He went on to predict Pant to reach great heights with the franchise in the future. In a light-hearted side of the conversation, the franchise owner further went on to mention that Pant, as a cricketer, has all the flavours that street food savouries of Lucknow have.
“Rishabh Pant isn’t just going to be the best player of LSG, but of the IPL itself. Never seen someone with so much passion. He’s the boy next door, his connect with the players, teams and thought process is different. Conventional thought process lacks uniqueness. I see him as a leader. He will probably be the best captain the IPL has seen,” noted Goenka.
"Pant is like Lucknowi chaat (savouries of Lucknow)," he added.
For the unversed, IPL 2025 will be the first edition of the cash-rich league in which Pant will not feature for Delhi Capitals. Ever since making his debut in IPL 2016, he had been an integral component of DC. His IPL record speaks for itself; 3,284 runs in 111 matches at a blazing strike rate of 148.93.
After a fallout with the DC management in relation to his future at the franchise, he was not retained ahead of the mega auction. He entered the auction with a whole lot of franchises having eyeballs on him. The INR 27 crore for which he was purchased made him the most-expensive pick in the history of the IPL so far.
