'Always felt welcomed, backed, and supported' - Trent Boult shares his experience of playing for Mumbai Indians
Boult has played for five different franchises in the IPL.
Mumbai Indians' (MI) star bowler Trent Boult was a part of MI's team when they won the IPL title back in 2020. After five years, Boult said it was one of the best T20 teams he had ever played with. MI won their fifth title in 2020, and since then, they haven't laid their hands on the trophy.
Boult is currently plying his trade for the Reliance-owned franchise. He has had a good IPL 2025 so far, picking up 10 wickets in nine matches at an average of 28.80 and economy rate of 9.00.
"What I remember most is being in the bubble during COVID—bunkered down in Abu Dhabi with a great setup and the familiarity of playing at the same ground. It was a bizarre time, but that 2020 Mumbai Indians team was one of the best T20 sides I’ve ever been part of. The tournament flew by—we made it to the play-offs, won the final, and it was a great feeling. Many of those faces are still around, so there’s no reason we can’t create more magical memories," said Boult on JioStar.
One of my fondest IPL memories is from 2015: Boult
Boult recalled the old days when he was chosen by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) back in 2015. He idolised Dale Steyn and was quite ecstatic to share the dressing room with the legendary player. Boult has played for many franchises in the IPL.
He started his IPL journey with SRH, then moved to KKR, DC, MI, and RR. However, he opened up about playing with MI, where he received support from everyone around him. The dressing room atmosphere is phenomenal, and he felt welcomed after rejoining this season.

Boult opens the bowling alongside Deepak Chahar or Jasprit Bumrah as per the need of the match. Captain Hardik Pandya has used the player really well this season, saving him for the death overs.
"One of my fondest IPL memories is from 2015, when I was picked to play in Hyderabad. I’d idolised Dale Steyn growing up—and suddenly, I was sharing a dressing room with him. That’s the beauty of IPL: getting to play alongside guys you never imagined you’d meet. When I moved from Delhi to Mumbai in 2020, I truly experienced what the MI ‘One Family’ culture is about. I’ve always felt welcomed, backed, and supported. They gave me the freedom to go out, express myself, and just do my thing. I feel very fortunate to be in this position," said Trent Boult on JioStar.
