The era of James Anderson might have come to an end in international cricket, but the legendary pacer still seems to have the drive to play competitive cricket, especially at the age of 42. The former 2010 T20 World Cup champion and four-time Ashes winner has recently registered himself in the draft for the upcoming The Hundred 2025 edition.

Though the "Burnley Express" was mostly known for his prowess in red-ball cricket, bowed out from the international arena as the leading wicket-taker among pacers in Test cricket. However, he was not as successful for his liking in the white-ball format. Though it has been six years since he played limited-overs cricket there is still a lot of hype around his return to the game.

Notably, apart from The Hundred, James Anderson had put his name for the IPL auction, where he went unsold. Now in the latest development, the Lancashire-based pacer also opened up on the reason behind registering for the Hundred Draft. Moreover, he shed light on the playing conditions that would suit his skills in the short version of the white-ball game.

“Watching the Hundred this year, seeing the ball swing around, it makes me feel like I could do a job there,” Anderson was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

Anderson to be the second oldest player in the Hundred?

The oldest player to register for this 100-ball franchise tournament so far is the former South Africa leg spinner, Imran Tahir, who played in the 2022 season. Notably, Anderson will be turning 43 years old ahead of the tournament. If he gets drafted into a franchise, then it would make him the second-oldest player in the league's history.

The other players who have gone on to play in the tournament in their 40s are Australian domestic legend Michael Hogan, and the Italian batter, Wayne Madsen. Besides, the former South African captain and star batter, Faf Du Plessis will also enter this list once he starts playing for the Southern Brave in the upcoming tournament. The last franchise match Anderson played was in the T20 Blast in 2014, where he played for Lancashire.
