Arjun Tendulkar, who represents Goa in the domestic circuit, attained his career-best bowling figures in a Ranji Trophy match against Gujarat on Sunday, February 18.
Putting in an impressive performance with the ball, Tendulkar took four wickets and conceded 49 runs in 21 overs against Gujarat, maintaining an economy of 2.33 and delivering three maidens as well.
The pacer has been subpar in his showings in first-class cricket so far. Currently, Goa occupy last place in their Ranji group with no wins in the six matches that they have played in. As they continue their tussle against Gujarat, they will hope that things can turn around for them.
Gujarat edge towards win against Goa
Speaking of the clash, the game between Goa and Gujarat began with Goa batting first. The side got off to a subpar start as Amogh Desai and Suyash S Prabhudessai opened the innings with scores of four and 28 runs, respectively. Furthermore, Manthan Khutkar added 19 runs, and with the top order’s collapse, it was the middle order that performed well.
Skipper Darshan Misal added 89 runs in 110 deliveries; Arjun Tendulkar scored 45 runs; Mohit Redkar scored 80 runs; and Goa posted a total of 317 runs in the first innings.
In response, Gujarat scored 346 runs with the help of P K Panchal opening the innings with 171 runs to his name. As Goa aimed to minimise the trail and post a big total on the board, the side failed to repeat their performance from the first innings.
Gujarat bowled brilliantly and limited Goa to a score of 143 runs, getting a target of 115 runs to chase down and register a brilliant win against Goa. As for their opponents, Goa will be maintaining their position at the wrong end of the standings.
