Arshdeep Singh named ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year

Arshdeep Singh has been announced as the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year at the ICC Awards. Emerging as India's leading wicket-taker in T20Is in 2024, Arshdeep's most commendable performances were throughout the T20 World Cup 2024. With 17 dismissals in eight innings, the left-arm seamer ended up as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament.
In a recent discussion, he discussed how he felt on winning the coveted award. He also recounted his most favourite moment of the previous year, and provided clarity into his role while representing India.
"Feels great to win the ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year award. Really grateful and thankful to god. Thankful to everyone, whoever worked behind the scenes, and the credit goes to the support staff and all the players as well who helped get the best out of me," Arshdeep expressed via ICC.
"(On his special moment of 2024) special moment? As every Indian would say that it was the final that we won, the (T20) World Cup final. Looking forward to making more such memories. Whether it's being economical or taking wickets at the start or the end, I just try to bring the best out of me for the team and give them good results. I will cherish this moment for some time," the pacer added.
Interestingly, the Guna-born made his T20I debut in July 2022. Since then, he has gone from strength to strength and has gone on to cement his position as one of the most effective bowlers in the powerplay and the death overs. Arshdeep has also worked tremendously hard on his variations, making him a pure asset for the side.

As of now, Arshdeep is featuring for India in their T20I series against England. He is set to play in the three ODIs which follow the ongoing T20I series. Along with the rest, Arshdeep will be expected to deliver the goods in the upcoming edition of the Champions Trophy.
