Arun Jaitley Stadium set alight as fans sing ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’ during IND-AFG game

Team India registered its second win of the ODI World Cup 2023 as the side defeated Afghanistan in their second game of the tournament. As the side continues to put in excellent performances in the marquee event, the fans have been entirely behind the team as well and they have continued to show their support for India.
As India aimed to chase down a target of 273 runs on the board, the Rohit Sharma-led side dominated Afghanistan as the skipper’s brilliant century kept the fans enthralled.
During the run chase, in the 17th over, the Arun Jaitley stadium was set alight as the spectators were singing the AR Rahman classic ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam,’ in chorus as the floodlights in the stadium were switched off.

Team India register brilliant win against Afghanistan
Speaking of India’s performance at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the side bowled first against Afghanistan and conceded a total of 272 runs in the first innings. Hashmatullah Shahidi and Azmatullah Omarzai were the highest run-getters for Afghanistan with scores of 80 and 62 runs, respectively.
As for India, Jasprit Bumrah was the highest wicket-taker with four wickets to his name. Hardik Pandya took two wickets, with Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav striking once each.
Aiming to chase down the target, India got off to a brilliant start as skipper Rohit Sharma completed a brilliant century, scoring 131 runs in 84 balls, with Ishan Kishan adding 47 runs on the board as well.
Furthermore, ace batter Virat Kohli scored 55 runs and helped India win the game as well. The side defeated Afghanistan by eight wickets and registered their second win in their very second game of the marquee event. After brilliant performances, India will now be gearing up to take on arch-rival Pakistan in Ahmedabad on October 14.
