Pacer Jasprit Bumrah's excellent bowling performances have been one of the highlights of India's unbeaten T20 World Cup 2024 campaign thus far. His precision and subtle variations have flummoxed the opposition batters so far in the marquee event.

After Bumrah finished with mind-boggling figures of 3/7 in his four overs in India's 47-run win against Afghanistan on Thursday, June 20, teammate Axar Patel revealed that bowling coach Paras Mhambrey doesn't interfere too much and allows the talismanic pacer to devise his own plans.

“I don’t think anyone talks much about Bumrah’s bowling He has an idea of what to do and what not to do. So I think when it is going so well, I don’t think the bowling coach is giving so much input that there is some confusion in his mind. He just says that you are doing well, whatever thinking you are doing is also going well. As much as I have seen, the bowling coach doesn’t interfere much. He says during planning that whatever your mindset is, it is clear, so just execute your plans,” Patel was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Axar further described Bumrah as a “world-class bowler” and highlighted his impact, saying, “You know that with the quality of bowlers we have on our side – we can get out of a tough situation.”

Jasprit Bumrah's awe-inspiring numbers in T20 World Cup 2024

The 30-year-old started the tournament with consecutive Player of the Match-winning performances against Ireland and Pakistan. He went wicketless against the USA but was quite economical. After picking up three wickets against Afghanistan in the last game, the right-arm seamer took his wickets tally to eight for the tournament from four games. He has a stupendous average of 6.50 and a strike rate of 11.25. His economy rate is a miserly 3.47.

India face Bangladesh on Saturday, June 22, at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. Bumrah would want to extend his purple patch and give the Men in Blue their fifth win in the tournament, which will take them one step closer to the semifinals.
