The Asia Cup 2023 is in its final week with just three matches left in the competition. India are currently on top of the Super 4 points table with two wins and a brilliant net run rate of +2.69, having qualified for the final clash.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka take the second spot with a net run rate of -0.200. India's 41-run victory against the hosts on September 12 has knocked Bangladesh out of the tournament, with Pakistan and Sri Lanka still in the race.

Pakistan, who took a massive hit in net run rate with a 228-run hammering against India, are ranked on the third spot on the Super 4 points table with one win and a loss and a net run rate of -1.892.

Therefore, the upcoming clash between Pakistan and Sri Lanka on Thursday, September 4 becomes a virtual semi-final, with the winner set to qualify for the summit clash. India's win over Sri Lanka has benefitted Pakistan immensely as it has taken their dismal net run rate out of the equation and just a win will ensure their place in the big final.

Bangladesh's chances to qualify lied upon the result of the India-Sri Lanka clash but India's win has ended their campaign as they are ranked on the last spot on the points table with two losses and poor a net run rate of -0.749.

Therefore, the India vs Bangaldesh clash on September 15 becomes a dead rubber, with India having qualified and Bangladesh knocked out. The Shakib Al Hasan-led side will aim to beat India in the last Super Four game as a consolation prize after their disappointing campaign.

What will happen if Pakistan vs Sri Lanka match gets washed out?

In case the game is washed out, Sri Lanka will go through to the final courtesy of their superior net run rate to Pakistan. The final of the Asia Cup will be played on September 17 and the match is likely to be shifted from Colombo to Kandy with rain being forecast in the Sri Lankan capital.
