India is currently facing Nepal in the 5th match of the Asia Cup 2023. The Indian bowlers had a strong start, maintaining excellent line and length and creating several opportunities for wickets. However, the Indian fielders failed to support them, dropping three straightforward catches.
The first drop occurred when Shreyas Iyer missed a catch in the slip. Following that, Virat Kohli dropped a catch at covers, and wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan also failed to hold onto an easy catch behind the wicket. This series of missed opportunities has been disappointing for the Indian team, as it has allowed the Nepalese batters to continue their innings without any setbacks.

Shastri slammed Indian fielders on air for lethargic fielding against Nepal
Meanwhile, reacting to the sloppy fielding by the Indian fielders in the ongoing Asia Cup game against Nepal, the former head coach and renowned commentator Ravi Shastri seemed quite unhappy and slammed the lethargic efforts of the players. Notably, wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan was the third player to drop a dolly in the fifth over of the game. The Nepal batter Kushal Bhurtel offered an easy catch for Kishan, however, he failed to collect it. This led Shastri to slam the fielders while on air.
“Sloppy from India, really! This is straightforward. Ample time. No excuse though from the keeper’s point of view. This is as straightforward as it can get,” Shastri furiously stated.
