Later, Kuldeep Yadav wreaked havoc on the Sri Lankan batters as India restricted the hosts to 172 runs in 41.3 overs. The veteran spinner finished with figures of 4/43. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets each. Wellalage was crucial with the bat as well, scoring an unbeaten 42 off 46 deliveries with the help of three fours and one six.
