Asia Cup 2023: India vs Pakistan Weather Forecast and Pitch Report of R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo

A reserve day has been allocated on September 11 in case the match is not completed due to weather intervention on the scheduled day.

The R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will host the high-voltage thriller between arch-rivals team India and Pakistan on Sunday, September 10. However, it is worth mentioning that there is significant rain threat for the fixture which could thereby disrupt the flow the Asia Cup 2023 contest.

Notably, the group stage encounter between the arch-rivals was washed out due to persistent rain at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. As the Super Four match commences at 3:00 PM local time (and IST), the weather projections as per ‘Accuweather’ shows the conditions to remain cloudy throughout the day with a couple of thunderstorms.

The cloud cover is likely to be at 96 per cent and the humidity 84 per cent. Wind gusts during the afternoon is likely to travel at the rate of 41 km/h and winds traveling from south-west at the rate of 20 km/h. Towards the late evening, the cloud cover is at 100 per cent with probability of precipitation at 96 per cent.

Likewise, ‘BBC Weather' too projects 47 per cent chances of precipitation during the afternoon which increases towards the latter half of the evening. In all likelihood, the match will be interrupted due to the rain gods making their presence felt on the match day as per the weather projections.

Reserve Day on September 11 

If the match is disrupted due on the stipulated day, then it will resume on the reserve day. For the unversed, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) obtained consent from the boards of all the four teams participating in the Super Four for a reserve day to be allocated for the India-Pakistan fixture. 

Notably, the match officials can extend the game by 90 minutes on the match day, however, assuming that the match is not completed on Sunday, the game will resume on Monday, continuing from where they left had left.
