The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has earmarked September as the tentative month for scheduling the Men's Asia Cup 2025, according to a report.

Notably, the tournament will be played in 20-over format, keeping in mind the Men's T20 World Cup, scheduled for early 2026. Eight teams will be taking part in the latest edition of the Asia Cup with Hong Kong and Oman finding spots to compete in the continental tournament. Nepal, however, failed to qualify and hence, the team won't be taking part.

The most important update out of the report was regarding the host nation, with neither of India or Pakistan hosting it. Additionally, both nations will not be hosting any of the editions till 2031. A Cricbuzz report stated that Sri Lanka or the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are the two most potential countries to be hosting the 2025 edition of the tournament.

"A key recent decision of the ACC was that the tournament be held in a neutral country when it is the turn of either the BCCI or the PCB to stage it. A document in possession of this website states clearly," Cricbuzz said in its report on Thursday, February 27.

A total of 19 matches will be held in 2025, similar to the 2029 edition, whereas the following 2027 and 2031 editions will have 13 games each with both being held in the ODI format. It is noteworthy to mention that even though Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have hosting rights to 2029 edition of the tournament, but the games will be held in a neutral country.

India are currently the defending champions, but do not hold hosting rights to any of the editions of the ongoing cycle. Sri Lanka, the co-hosts for the previous edition, will be hosting in 2031, whereas the 2027 edition has been allotted to Bangladesh.
