Australia won the first ODI against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne on November 4. They reduced Pakistan to a mere 203 runs after opting to bowl at the toss. It just needed 33.3 overs for the hosts to reach the target despite the visitors’ resilient comeback to pluck out their eight batters.

Right after the ODI series, both teams will tussle in the three-match T20I series with the first game scheduled to commence on November 14 at The Gabba in Brisbane. Before the series against Pakistan, Cricket Australia had not announced the T20I captain for the series. But after the first ODI, the selectors have named Josh Inglis to lead the side. It is worth noting that the wicketkeeper-batter will lead Australia for the first time.

"Josh is an integral member of the ODI and T20I teams and a highly respected player on and off the field. He has led Australia A previously and will bring strong tactical nous and a positive approach to the role. Josh will receive great support from the likes of Matt Short and Adam Zampa, along with senior players including Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis,” said national selection panel chairman, George Bailey as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Inglis to lead Australia in third ODI

It is worth noting that Inglis will become the 14th T20I captain for Australia and the 30th captain for Australia overall. As regular skipper Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith are about to miss the third ODI against Pakistan, Inglis will also lead the team in the final ODI.
